What light does the Hat Pro use?

The product page lists 125 diodes at 615, 635 and 650 nm, plus 450 nm blue.1 There is no near-infrared. The emitters are LEDs, not lasers.

Coverage on that page is about 80% of the scalp. Panel output is 500 mW. A session is 15 minutes.

What comes in the box?

A soft everyday cap. The panel lifts out, so the cap is washable. The fit is 54–62 cm. The controller is USB-C and rechargeable, with a 15-minute timer, and the box includes a travel case. It runs cool.

Delivery is free UK next-day from Kent. Support is by email and WhatsApp. Free consultation with Celestine Gitau, Institute of Trichologists no. 583, on the consultation page.

The RedLight study

RedLight Innovation’s own page describes a series of 6 volunteers, 3 men and 3 women, using the hat for 15 minutes a day for 90 days. The brand says the series finished in August 2024. It does not describe a control group. Read the study page.

What do buyers say on the brand’s website?

These quotes are customer reviews on RedLight Innovation’s own website. They are not reviews by this guide.

The lights are extremely bright and the quality of the hat is probably the best I have felt ever. It feels really well made and comfortable to wear, and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into the design.

Billy, on the brand’s own website

I'm not sure if its hugely noticeable but I feel it has definitely helped

Jen L., on the brand’s own website

I mixed my treatment with 5% minoxidil foam everyday… These are my progress pics after 85 days and I'm so happy with the way my hair is looking already.

Umar C., on the brand’s own website

What results can you expect?

The brand’s own page describes a 90-day series of six volunteers. It does not describe a control group. It is not the same evidence as the sham-controlled studies.

Research suggests red light may help with pattern hair loss when people use it consistently over several months. The stronger studies compare a real device with a sham and count hairs at about 16 to 26 weeks. They do not all agree on the size of the change, and they were not run on this hat. Wavelengths around 630–680 nm overlap 635 and 650 nm. The detail is on does red light therapy work.

The quotes above are customer reviews on the brand’s own website. Some of them also mention minoxidil.

If the loss is sudden or patchy, see a GP before you buy. The NHS asks for that conversation before a commercial clinic. A hat does not replace a conversation about minoxidil where that medicine is appropriate. See red light or minoxidil.

When should you buy something else?

Choose the CurrentBody helmet if you want a rigid full-head shape at £649.99. Its UK page listed the helmet as out of stock when checked on 18 October 2026. Choose Beauty Pie if £332 is the budget. Its UK page listed the cap as out of stock when checked in October 2026. Choose HigherDOSE if a cordless 10-minute cap matters more than a published fit range.

Common questions

Is the RedLight Hat Pro red and near-infrared?

It lists 615, 635 and 650 nm red, plus 450 nm blue. It does not list near-infrared.

Does it cover the whole scalp?

The product page says about 80% of the scalp in a session. It is a soft cap, not a rigid helmet. Panel output is 500 mW.

How much does it cost, and what is included?

£372, as a one-off purchase, or 3 interest-free payments via Shop Pay. The 90-day money-back offer needs the suitability quiz, progress photos and a trichologist review. The warranty is one year if you register within 7 days. Delivery is free UK next-day from Kent.

What does the brand’s own series show?

The brand’s page describes six volunteers over 90 days and does not describe a control group. Broader red-light research is summarised on the evidence page. This review does not treat the hat as a medical treatment.
